DFFB

The Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (the German Film and Television Academy Berlin) was created in 1966 and is one of the most prestigious and oldest film academies in Germany. Its alumni include Wolfgang Petersen, Helke Sander, Wolfgang Becker, Christian Petzold, Detlev Buck, Thomas Arslan and Chris Kraus. The training offered to students by the DFFB with its relatively limited budget balances teaching the artistic dimensions of filmmaking with understanding the financial and technical production requirements imposed by the market. The DFFB focuses on teaching the four basic fields of filmmaking: screenplay, directing, camera and production. No more than 34 students are admitted each year.
