Artificial intelligence is transforming our world – and the world of art. In the exhibition “Shaping AI: Art in the Age of Algorithms”, technology, creativity, and pressing social questions come together. In a special collaboration with mkv (medienkunstverein) and the Digital Art Museum (DAM), we present a curated selection of digital video works at The Center at Potsdamer Platz that offer new perspectives on the relationship between humans, machines, and the environment.

Three artistic positions demonstrate how AI has evolved beyond being a mere tool – becoming an active agent in the creative process:

Kathrin Hunze – re:capture (2021)
An audiovisual composition blending natural sounds with AI-generated elements, inspired by Beethoven’s 6th Symphony. A virtual world emerges where nature, humans, and machines coexist – but human agency slowly fades.

Ornella Fieres – A black dog is looking at himself in the mirror (2021)
A neural network analyzes blurred sci-fi film scenes from the 1960s and 70s, generating subtitles. What does the machine truly see – and what do we fail to notice?

Patricia Detmering – APORIA (2021)
A simulated world populated by AI-driven avatars capable of independent decision-making. Combining painting, sculpture, and digital simulation, the work explores the dynamics of open and closed societies in the digital age.

The video works are shown in a continuous loop on our public screens at The Center at Potsdamer Platz – right in the heart of the city and in constant dialogue with everyday life.

Stop by daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, every full hour – discover new perspectives on technology and ask yourself:
How does artificial intelligence shape our perception of reality?
